'Iron Gran' launches Monday afternoon exercise classes for the over 50s in Archbishop's Park
For just £3 per session*, anyone aged over 50 can join the redoubtable Edwina Brockleby's - 'Iron Gran' - Silverfitters for exercise sessions in Waterloo's glorious Archbishop's Park. Edwina won her soubriquet for her penchant for undertaking Iron Man challenges - she is Britain's oldest competitor in these events. A daunting enough challenge for all but the fittest young athletes, Edwina's achievement is all the more impressive as she only took up running at the age of 53. Her Silverfit initiative - which brings well-priced exercise classes to the over-50s - aims to help keep Britain's ageing population fitter in both mind and body. It now has over 450 participants each week, with sessions in Brockwell Park at at Brixton Rec.
Archbishop's Park sessions will be on Monday afternoons, meeting at 1.30pm with activities from 2pm until 3pm. They will be followed by restorative cups of tea and coffee.
